This page lists what MotoMaps stores on your device, what each item does, and how to get rid of it. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers everything else we collect.
We store a small amount of data in your browser to keep you signed in, remember your settings, and apply the free view limit. We do not run advertising trackers, and we do not use Google Analytics or any similar product. Nothing we store is sold or shared with advertisers.
Most of it is browser local storage rather than cookies. It does the same kind of job, so we cover it here too.
This is the complete list.
| What | Where | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-in session | Cookie and local storage, set by our hosting provider Base44 | Keeps you signed in between visits | Until you sign out or it expires |
cookie_consent | Local storage | Remembers the choice you made on the cookie banner, so we stop asking | Until you clear site data |
mm_session_id | Local storage | An anonymous ID for your device. Lets us recognise a returning browser and apply the free limit on full track views. It is not linked to your name and is not shared. | Until you clear site data |
mm-theme | Local storage | Remembers whether you chose light or dark | Until you clear site data |
mm_user_coords, mm_loc_prompted | Local storage | Your last known location, used for distances and the Nearby tab, and whether we have already asked for it. Only set if you allow location access. | Until you clear site data |
mm_browse_state, mm_sort, mm_sort_v2, mm_distance_unit | Local storage | Your Browse filters, sort order, and whether you prefer miles or kilometres | Until you clear site data |
fstm_pos_* | Session storage | Where you left the map, so it opens in the same place | When you close the tab |
| Small interface preferences | Local storage | Minor state such as whether you came from Browse and whether a panel was collapsed, so navigation behaves sensibly | Until you clear site data |
No advertising or marketing cookies. No Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, or any comparable analytics product. No cross-site tracking, no advertising IDs, no data brokers. We do not sell personal information.
The consent banner offers analytics and marketing categories, and both are off by default. At present nothing is attached to either category. If that changes, this page and the banner will be updated first.
Some parts of the site load from other companies, which means your browser makes a request to them and they receive your IP address. They may set their own storage under their own policies.
| Who | When | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Google Fonts | Every page, to load the typeface | Your IP address and browser details |
| Mapbox | Any page with a map | Your IP address, the map area you are viewing, and usage telemetry their map library sends by default |
| Stripe | Only on checkout and billing pages | Payment details and fraud-prevention signals. Stripe sets its own cookies. |
| Apple | Only for purchases made inside the iOS app | App Store transaction details |
| YouTube | Only on a listing that has embedded a video | Your IP address, and YouTube’s own cookies once the player loads |
The banner. Accept or reject from the banner shown on your first visit. Rejecting leaves only the items marked necessary above, which are what keep you signed in and the site working.
Your browser. Every browser can block or clear cookies and site data for a specific site. Clearing ours signs you out and resets your preferences, including your theme and filters.
Your account. Notification and privacy settings live under Settings → Privacy. To request deletion of your account data, see Section 9 of the Privacy Policy.
MotoMaps is built for riders in the United States and Canada. Track and shop listings cover those two countries, prices are in US dollars, and the iOS app is published only in the US and Canadian App Stores.
The website is reachable from anywhere, but it is not directed at users outside the United States and Canada and we do not market it in other regions. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is processed in the United States as described in Section 11 of the Privacy Policy.
If we add anything that stores data on your device, we will update the tables above and the “Last updated” date before it ships.
