This Privacy Policy explains how Moto Maps ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use Moto Maps and the website at www.motomaps.co (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
The Service is a directory and community platform for tracks, shops, riders, and creators. Users can create profiles and listings, post reviews, send messages, save listings, and purchase subscriptions or promoted (featured) placements. For privacy questions, contact us at motomaps.co@gmail.com.
We collect information you provide directly, information generated automatically as you use the Service, and information we receive from third-party service providers.
Account and authentication information: email address; password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never store your raw password); full name or display name; username/handle; account type and sub-type (rider, creator, track owner, shop owner, supporter); notification and privacy preferences.
Profile and listing information: profile, cover, and gallery images; bio or description; city, state/region, country; street address (track and shop listings); phone number and listing-level contact email; social links and URLs; date of birth (see Section 7); rider details (race class, skill level, years racing, bike/vehicle info, brand sponsors, race results); creator details (camera gear, editing software); track and shop details (track types, amenities, features, pricing, hours, rules, age requirements, refund and media policies); waiver documents and other uploaded files.
Location information: addresses, city/region names, and the GPS coordinates derived from them, used for map pins and location search and "nearby" features. A listing-level setting lets you hide a precise address and show only a general pin; even when hidden from public display, an address remains stored in our database to operate the Service.
User-generated content and communications: reviews (star rating, text, author name and location); review votes; direct messages and conversation metadata (messages are stored in our database; please do not share highly sensitive information in messages); saved listings; track suggestions and listing-claim requests, including affiliation details, phone number, and proof-of-ownership or identity documents.
Payment and subscription information: payments made on the website are processed by Stripe, and purchases made in the iOS app are processed by Apple through In-App Purchase. We do not collect or store your full card number in either case. We store payment-related identifiers and records such as Stripe customer ID, subscription ID, payment intent ID, Apple transaction and original transaction IDs, billing amount, plan, billing cycle, next billing date, and revenue/feature event records.
Information collected automatically: listing and page views (associated with your account email if logged in, or an anonymous session identifier if not); search queries (text, tab/filters, result count); an anonymous session identifier stored on your device to recognize a returning device and enforce view limits; standard technical information your browser sends, such as IP address.
Support and administrative information: contact form submissions (topic, name, email, message, attachments); system and admin notifications; records of whether you have seen or dismissed an announcement.
To create and operate your account and authenticate you; display profiles, listings, reviews, and other content you make public; provide core features (messaging, saving, search, maps, "nearby"); process payments, subscriptions, passes, and featured placements and keep financial records; send transactional and notification emails subject to your preferences; verify listing ownership and moderate community content; measure and improve performance, including analytics on views and searches; detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, and security issues; comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Much of what you add to a profile or listing is intended to be public — your display name, username, profile photo, bio, location (subject to the address-hiding setting), listing details, and reviews are visible to others. Do not include information in public fields that you do not want publicly accessible.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers so the Service can function, each receiving only what its role requires:
| Third party | Data sent | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Stripe | Email, name, payment intent and subscription data, card token | Payment processing |
| Apple | App Store transaction identifiers and subscription status for in-app purchases | Payment processing for the iOS app |
| Resend | Email, name, message content for contact and notification emails | Email delivery |
| Mapbox | Address strings, city/region names | Geocoding and maps |
| Cloudflare R2 | Profile, cover, and gallery images, waiver PDFs, contact attachments | File storage and delivery |
| Google Places API | Track coordinates | Nearby lookups |
| YouTube API | Video IDs/URLs | Embed metadata |
| Google Fonts | Your browser's IP address, sent automatically when fonts load | Font delivery |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, property, or safety of Moto Maps, our users, or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice). Note on Google Fonts: fonts are currently loaded from Google's servers, so your browser's IP address is sent to Google on page load; self-hosting fonts is an option to remove this.
We use browser local storage and similar technologies to operate the Service. We store an anonymous session identifier on your device to recognize a returning device, support guest browsing, and enforce content view limits, and we record page/listing views and search activity for analytics. We provide notice through this Privacy Policy and, where shown, a consent banner; you can also clear local storage and cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect how the Service works.
The Service is intended for users at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the higher minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We collect date of birth on certain profiles. Moto Maps does not currently enforce an age check at sign-up. If you believe a child has provided us personal information without appropriate consent, contact motomaps.co@gmail.com and we will take steps to delete it. Allowing users under 18 (or under 13) may trigger additional obligations, including COPPA, which generally requires verifiable parental consent.
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, maintain financial records, and enforce our agreements, then delete or de-identify it. You may request deletion as described in Section 9.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your information, opt out of certain processing and of "sale" or "sharing" (we do not sell personal information), and withdraw consent. Update much of your information in account settings, or contact motomaps.co@gmail.com. We will respond as required by law and will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. EEA/UK users: our legal bases include contract, consent, legitimate interests, and legal compliance, and you may complain to your local authority. California residents have rights under the CCPA (as amended); we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including encryption in transit, hashed password storage, and tokenized payments through Stripe. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Our service providers may store and process information in countries other than yours, with appropriate safeguards where required. By using the Service, you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.
The Service links to and embeds third-party content (such as social links and YouTube videos). We are not responsible for their privacy practices; please review their policies.
We may update this Policy. For material changes we will update the "Last updated" date and provide notice where appropriate. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
